The Stuart and Mimi Rose Program for Student Startups

Turn Ideas Into Ventures

Whether you are exploring entrepreneurship for the first time or already building something of your own, the Rose Program provides the structure, support, and entrepreneurial foundation to help you move forward. The Rose Program is a partnership with The Hatchery, Emory College of Arts and Sciences, and Goizueta Business School that offers multi-semester entrepreneurship experience for Emory undergraduates interested in building and launching new ventures, combining hands-on coursework, mentorship, and startup-focused experiences that help students move from early-stage ideas to real-world venture development.

Rose Program Journey

Start strong with a one-week startup immersion experience focused on innovation and entrepreneurship for incoming first-year students at Emory College. This is an optional pre-orientation opportunity offered in the summer.

Choose one of the following: 

  • Foundations of Entrepreneurship (OAM 236): An experiential entrepreneurship course open to Emory College students focused on the fundamentals of startup building and venture creation (Spring 3-credit course)
  • Entrepreneurship & Venture Management (OAM 436): A foundational entrepreneurship elective open to Goizueta BBA students focused on venture management and entrepreneurial thinking (Fall 3-credit course)
  • Startup Pitch Application Students may also pitch their own startup concept for consideration as a Rose Fellow

Students who complete OAM 236 or OAM 436 may apply to become Rose Program Fellows. Applications for Rose Fellows are available annually from February through April.

Rose Fellows gain access to advanced venture-building experiences, coursework, and startup support opportunities.

This advanced experiential 3-credit course, offered in the fall, gives students hands-on experience building and implementing their own ventures. Students explore topics including competitive positioning, venture growth strategies, partnership development, investor negotiation, business valuation, and entrepreneurial decision-making. 

Enrollment is open to:

  • BBA students
  • Emory College students who have completed OAM 236
  • Rose Fellows

Modeled after leading startup accelerators like Y Combinator and Techstars, this intensive venture 3-credit course, offered in the spring, helps student founders refine their startups, strengthen traction, and prepare for real-world growth.

Selected Rose Fellows may apply for the Hatchery Summer Accelerator, a 10-week immersive startup experience that includes mentorship, venture resources, and potential startup funding opportunities. Students may also pursue additional entrepreneurship opportunities across Emory, including:

The Rose Program is open to undergraduate students across Emory University, including Emory College of Arts and Sciences, the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, and the Goizueta Business School, regardless of major or academic background.

Whether your interests are in AI, healthcare innovation, climate solutions, consumer products, social impact, biotech, or creative industries, the program is designed to help students explore entrepreneurship and develop ideas into ventures.

Applications for Rose Fellows are available annually from February through April. Additionally, Emory’s entrepreneurial hub, The Hatchery—provides mentorship, workspace, and venture support for student founders.
