Biography
With a strong background in analytics, Mack Morris was looking for a change. The St. Louis native worked as a financial aid college counselor with the Georgia College Advising Corps in the Atlanta Public School system, but she wanted to take a deeper dive in how she could connect her analytical background with her experience working closely with others. “I wanted something that married those interests together, so I wanted to use my math background and also have an impact on people,” Mack says. “Finance seemed like a really good place to do both of those things.”
Mack began her journey in the Master of Finance program at Goizueta where she hoped to transition her career and move into a more quantitative role where she can be intellectually stimulated while also making an impact. In just a short time, Mack quickly saw the value the masters in finance degree provides.
“They really throw you into real life experiences where we’re meeting professionals every day, and we're being asked to do things that we would do in the workplace,” she says. “I don't even feel like I'm in school, and I feel like I'm going to work every day and learning how to work.” Mack holds true to her values and has been pleasantly surprised at how she’s been able to align her values inside the finance masters program. “In my previous role, it was really clear how my work was impacting people and the value proposition was really obvious there,” she says. “In finance, you have to get a little bit more creative about how you're how you're living into your values in your work.”
Every day Mack enters the classroom ready to serve her classmates and professors as she has discovered service is one of her core values. “I think that holding those values and then finding a way to live into them, regardless of what I'm doing, will ultimately serve me really well in the future,” she says.
