Biography
While working toward a bachelor’s in philosophy at Spelman College, Aniyah Daley had several opportunities to develop her leadership skills, as well as learn about the world of marketing. However, after graduation, Aniyah was ready to learn more.
“During my time at Spelman, I had multiple marketing internships, but because I was a philosophy major, I wasn't sure if I could go straight into the marketing field,” she says. “Because of that, I decided to pursue a Master in Management at Emory University so that I could build on my undergraduate experience and learn new skills.”
Things can move quickly in the 10-month Master in Management program, but Aniyah says faculty have really taken the time to make sure students understand the material and get the most from their experience. “Things are moving very fast, but they ensure that not only are we learning the material, but we're also comfortable at all times,” she says.
Outside of the technical skills students learn in the program, Aniyah has learned a great deal about herself in terms of being a leader and working on a team. While she looks ahead to beginning her career in marketing, she is thankful for the skills she has acquired.
“During this program, I've been surprised to learn how much I love working in teams,” she says. “I appreciate everyone's different viewpoints, and I love collaborative learning. And with that, I've learned that I'm really comfortable being in a leadership position, whether that's in a group meeting or in a presentation setting. I feel very comfortable in that role, and that's something that I wasn't aware of about myself before.”
