Biography

“[Goizueta] is an environment that is a pressure cooker for growth – it’s really up to you to take advantage of it.”

Courtney Hacker 22MBA entered the One-Year MBA program with roughly 40 other students to start her summer experience, which she said was challenging, yet incredibly rewarding. “Although the days are long, you experience significant growth in a short amount of time,” she said. “Things move quickly, so spend the upfront time to think about how you want to approach organization and time management.” After the core summer semester, she and her fellow classmates joined the Two-Year MBA cohort of roughly 150 students to complete electives. “The smaller cohort size allows for more dynamic conversations in the classroom and facilitates strong bonds within the community of students,” she said. “Academically, I have grown my perspective and skillset exponentially.”

Social Entrepreneurship and Impact Investing was one of Courtney’s favorite classes. The course discusses the role that businesses and business-like organizations can play in solving society’s most difficult problems. “The course also discusses what challenges these organizations face,” she said. “I have learned that to effectively tackle societal problems, you must consider how to shift the system in comparison to solving one singular part.”

Outside of the classroom, Courtney has worked diligently with the Graduate Career Management Center to help craft her career story and fine tune her networking and interview strategies. “My coach is available to discuss any topic regarding the recruiting process, from providing feedback on my cover letters and connecting me to people within their networks to identifying the right salary range for applications,” she said.

As she looks toward starting her professional journey after Goizueta, she hopes her degree will expand her world view and perspective. “I am grateful for life-long relationships that have come from my MBA experience,” she said.
